Bathers Library Newsletter #13

Hello all! As usual there is so much going on! In terms of updates, this month we’re seeing the beginnings of our Fall/Winter reading groups AND our brand new Cohorts program. It’s been so fun to see all this energy in the space. Thanks to all the reading group and cohorts facilitators for being such great collaborators. We’ve got some fun events coming up, some new merch just in time for the holidays, new riso shop hours, and a couple new projects to plug into in this newsletter. Plus we’re releasing a new shirt for preorder (25% off for the next week—read to the bottom to check it out). This may be the most jam packed newsletter of all time! Let’s get into it!

AIR LIGHT WATER MOON SHADOW SKY RELEASE NOV. 13TH

Join us this Thursday, November 13th for the official release of Matt Carney’s experimental game project, “Air Light Water Moon Shadow Sky” with performances from Tatiana Luboviski-Acosta, Amy Langer and Carlos Quevedo—plus live sonic score by Matt, and visuals and a sound set by Vivid Divide. Doors at 7:30, show at 8pm.

BE A PART OF THE BATHERS 2025 YEARBOOK

Let’s make a yearbook! We have been looking back over this wild first official year of Bathers and though it would be fun to try and document everything that happened. We wanna see EVERYTHING! If you hosted or participated in or attended an event here, send things in! Excerpts from work that was read, sketches from figure drawing classes, photos of events—reading lists, notes, reflections, who knows! Due date is December 1st. Book ideally will come out mid-December.

JOIN A VOLUNTEER GROUP

We’re back at it! As you may or may not know—Bathers Library is a volunteer run organization with zero paid staff (right now—maybe that’ll change in the future). We need your help to keep this place running (and to make it better and better!). We’ve tried some volunteer organizing plans in the past, but this one feels resonant and like it just… might… work!

Sign up to be part of a Bathers Volunteer Group—groups are centered around a particular aspect of library work: programs/classes, library, publications/riso, and fundraising. Join a group, or sign up to be a group leader and help us make this place as vibrant and sustainable as it can be!

RISO HOURS • FRIDAY 3-6PM

New Riso Shop hours! Come by and print! Free for members or $30 for 50 prints. Space is slightly limited, so RSVPs are great—walk ins are welcome if there’s time/space. Open 3-6pm every Friday.

SMALL PRESS BOOK BAZAAR DECEMBER 6TH

Small Press Book Bazaar! The bazaar is a great place to support local publishers and find affordable art, new publications, posters, stickers, T-shirts and other artist-made merchandise.

Co-presented by San Francisco Art Book Fair and The Lab.
