Spring/Summer Reading Group Sign Ups are Live!

So many incredible groups! Plus Library cataloging, quiet co-working, Malcolm Harris and Wendy Liu!

I am so excited to announce our Spring/Summer lineup of reading groups! Groups are created and facilitated by Bathers community members and center on a topic, text, author, or some other organizing principle. Groups generally meet weekly for about 6 weeks, mostly on site at Bathers Library in downtown Oakland.

This season, we have a truly mind-bending and absolutely thrilling variety of groups on topics ranging from Wittgenstein’s language games to alt-horror; from abolitionist possibilities to digital dump-sites; from Jon Fosse’s epic novel series to (a second attempt at) the age-old question: what are meetings?

Groups will start at various times throughout May and June (see description link below for date/time info). Sign up for as many groups as you like—however, space is limited to 15 people per group, so please be mindful not to over-commit.

A $20-50 donation is suggested for each signup, which goes toward an honorarium for facilitators (and to help keep the space open). With a $50 donation, you'll receive a specially designed item based on the Spring/Summer reading groups content. No one will be turned away for lack of funds.

Thank you to the facilitators, Joanne Furio, Jared Robinson, Ven Qiu, Dorothy Tang, Stephanie Reist, Kelly Egan, Peach Kander, XTRA.DAE, Gaia WXYZ, Elena Noyes, Kate Kuaimoku, and Danny Spitzberg for proposing and organizing these groups!
